Dear Reader,

This week, I will, as my dear Pop-Pop used to say, enter my 50th year.

(And also? Stella’s celebrating her own solar turning this week, too! It’s Birthday Week here!)

I really love my Birthday, but there’s something especially delicious about this particular passage into my 50th year. I can’t quite put my finger on it but oh does it feel goooood.

It’s pumpkin muffins and paninis…

Doggie kisses and doughnuts…

Cake and smarties and family and fall and this very specific feeling of being a woman who has gotten away with something.

I feel like I am about to enter into the very best that my life has to offer…and I have no idea what that even is.

But I delight in the Not Knowing. Almost as much as I delight in the chocolate cake.

And I delight, quite honestly, in the Adventure of it all.

My Adventure, thus far, has led me to find hidden waterfalls, down roads without signs. I’ve fallen into trenches so deep I thought I would never find my way out. I’ve been to remote corners of my Homeland, sipped wine with Kings, and grieved at the foot of more than one mighty oak. I have walked with blistered feet, I have sailed among the clouds, I have lain in fields of poppies, and slept in beds of sand. I have danced with lions, breakfasted with giraffes, and met more than one monkey who had nothing good on his mind. I have hiked mountains, swam in the seas, and spent more than one day doing nothing at all.

It’s been a Grand Adventure, my friend. One I’d not trade for any other. One I am proud to call my own. And one I’ve been honoured to share with you.

No matter how we’ve come to Journey together, no matter the Road that brought us Here, I want to thank you for the very fact of your Being. Here.

For wherever We go, there We are. And I’m so very glad of it.

Big love,

XX
