What business and Bo Schembechler have in common

By: Sarah Dew Whitsett

A topic I have been chewing on lately is how most companies we come in contact with are not thinking about the legacy of what they are building or the potential influence it can have.

What business and Bo Schembechler have in common…

They value the team above all else.

When your business is at the point where you can’t do it alone – you, like me – probably look around and go: how did all of these people come to work with me?

Founders are so busy running the business and serving clients that when they finally have a moment to breathe they look around and find there is a group of people working for them who have, hopefully, come to support the company as much as they do.

It can be an amazing feeling and also a daunting one.

Are these the “right” people? Do I even know what the ‘right’ jobs are here?

We work with our clients regularly to sort these issues out.

But aside from the nuts and bolts of how a team functions is the cohesiveness – the commitment and ownership of the cause.

When it works it is powerful and you have a group of people who are dedicated to a common goal.

When this happens your company can move mountains. You can reach goals that you alone could never think of.

Find your team, nurture and grow them, and when you need a bit of inspiration, turn to the great Bo Schembechler.

This gets me every time.

THE TEAM THE TEAM THE TEAM.

That’s where the goodness lies.
